NCL’s newest Prima Plus flagship brings the longest slides at sea, Vegas-caliber nightlife, and private island access to the Caribbean — just christened
The champagne bottle shatters against the hull and two thousand guests erupt in celebration at PortMiami’s Terminal B — known as the Pearl of Miami — as Norwegian Cruise Line officially christens its newest ship on March 27, 2026. Street artist ELLE, the vessel’s godmother and the creator of its luminous hull artwork, watches the cascade of bubbles with quiet pride. That same afternoon, just down the Florida coast, NASA’s Artemis II astronauts were arriving for their own lunar mission. Two very different voyages. One shared celestial muse. Norwegian Luna — luna meaning moon in Spanish — was born into the world with all the symbolism the moment deserved.
The second ship in NCL’s Prima Plus class, Norwegian Luna follows Norwegian Aqua into a fleet of 21 ships sailing to nearly 350 destinations worldwide. Built by Fincantieri at its Marghera shipyard in Italy, she measures 1,056 feet in length and welcomes up to 3,565 guests. From April 2026 through April 2027, she sails round-trip Caribbean itineraries from Miami before repositioning to New York for Bermuda voyages. The Caribbean has a new flagship. And she arrives in spectacular fashion.
NCL’s Newest Prima Plus Flagship
Norwegian Luna was engineered around a single conviction: that the ideal cruise looks different for every guest on board. Families with teenagers, multi-generational groups, couples seeking adult-only escapes, and solo travelers all find their version of the ship without compromise. The Prima Plus design philosophy — wide-open spaces, intuitive flow, a resistance to the crowded-corridor feel of older megaships — makes that promise believable.
The signature Aqua Slidecoaster returns from Norwegian Aqua and remains the most talked-about thrill at sea: dual slides, two distinct courses, and a magnetic lift that propels riders through exhilarating drops and curves. It is, by engineering certification, the longest and fastest at-sea slide experience afloat. Alongside it, Luna debuts three family-focused spaces: Luna Midway, a carnival-inspired outdoor area with classic games; Moon Climber, a multi-level obstacle course designed for all ages; and Horizon Park, a complimentary lawn-game deck with the Caribbean as backdrop.
After Dark: Entertainment That Earns Its Reputation
Norwegian Cruise Line built its identity on entertainment, and Norwegian Luna raises that bar with a program that rivals land-based venues. “Elton: A Celebration of Elton John™” brings the full theatricality of the global icon’s catalog to the Luna Theater. “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder™” fuses cirque-style acrobatics with multimedia artistry. Syd Norman’s Pour House delivers its newest production — a full tribute to the Eagles — on the main stage.
The most buzzed-about addition is LunaTique™, an adults-only late-night show at The Improv at Sea for guests 21 and older. Inspired by the energy of Las Vegas nights, it blends bold visuals, character-driven performances, and specialty cocktails in an intimate setting. Note: LunaTique carries an additional charge — and by all early accounts, it is worth every dollar.
A Floating Culinary World
Seventeen dining venues spanning more than 15 world cuisines ensure that no two dinners aboard Norwegian Luna need to resemble each other. Modern Italian at Onda by Scarpetta. Authentic Thai at Sukhothai. Classic French elegance at Le Bistro. Eighteen bars and lounges — from the intimate Whiskey Bar to the sustainability-focused Metropolitan Bar — complete a food-and-beverage program that rivals the best resort properties in the Caribbean.
Guests seeking the ultimate in privacy and personalization will find it in The Haven by Norwegian®, the ship-within-a-ship concept offering exclusive suites, a private restaurant, bar, and lounge. It is one of cruising’s most refined retreats, and Norwegian Luna delivers it at full scale.
BajaTraveler® Takeaway
Norwegian Luna doesn’t ask you to choose between a family adventure and a sophisticated escape — it delivers both, simultaneously and without apology. The longest slides at sea, a late-night adults-only Vegas-style show, Michelin-worthy dining, and private island access in the Bahamas: this is the Caribbean raised to a new standard. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to sail NCL, Norwegian Luna is it.
