Thoughts on Mexico

quotes-background

Alec Baldwin

“I encourage everyone to come down here to the Sea of Cortés – and visit this Beautiful… Beautiful area. If you are a golfer, it’s a perfect location – as the Gary Player golf course is beautifully laid out.

I think just sitting back and cruising on a boat in those one-of-a-kind waters is the best way to enjoy the area… The Sea of Cortés is the most memorable! Glance at a map and you see the unique geography of the area.”

“It was back in 1992 when I first visited México for my viviendo Deprisa’ tour I will never forget the love with which I was received by all – the fans, the press, the crew I got to work with. I fell in love with the country, its corners, its people – their Sense of humor. I made friends back then with whom I’m still close friends.

I also adore México’s gastronomy, and if I had to select a favorite one, I’d say… tacos al pastor, or cochinita pibil, or birria, or tortas ahogadas, or carne seca, or enchiladas, the arrachera… It’d be hard to pick one.”

“Even after traveling the world… México is my favorite destination!

Nothing compares to the Scenery, the Food, the fun loving People, the Arts and Textiles, the Pyramids. The Dance clubs, the Hotels, the Beaches and the Service I get everywhere I go.

VIVA MEXICO!”

“Chefs in Tijuana and Ensenada got tired of waiting for the Americans to come back and just started making really great – really creative food.

There are people there who have been doing great food for 35 years, and there are a bunch of young chefs who have traveled the world who’ve come home and decided, Let’s move Mexican food forward. It’s like Tuscany down there. It’s amazing!

I was there for eight days and didn’t see a single American.Traveled around Wine Country – awesome! It’s the great undiscovered wonderland. Rolling hills, grape arbors and great chefs cooking very forward very subtle, very local, very good food.”

“I first became acquainted with México in kind of a blessed way. I was driving an old beaten up Porsche around Baja, drove down to Tijuana, this was back in my twenties. I returned to México in 1986, when I spent three months in San Miguel de Allende and Pozos for a film I was impassioned about, this is when I finally got to know the México that has never left me.

A hand-woven dyed rug and a horse blanket I found there lie next to the Navaho by my bed to this very day. I had my bed built by a Mexican, out of doors and beams from an abandoned Hacienda. México has always stayed with me. I sleep with her at night.”

“I started my career in México, “Yesterday” I lived my beginnings there and throughout time I have seen myself mature. I love everything about Mexico, its Food, its Culture, but above all – its People… They have a great heart!

And in my particular case, I’m still in touch with my fans that were with me from the start and that is the best present that I can receive from this country. This is why I always like to leave the door open… to be able to return. Every city in México has its magic, which is why they are all special. I feel very content in every city in México.”

What I love most about México is the genuine warmth and spiritual Hospitality of its people. You feel there is more than what you see in the surface.

La Paz is gaining wonderful momentum as a tourist destination and the golf course at this stunning site on the Sea of Cortés does nothing but contribute to that. “I have been fortunate to experience the diversity of México – this magnificent country for the past 27 years from recreational experiences and business development. From the fishing off Isla Mujeres and Cabo, to diving the waters of the Mexican Caribbean and the cenotes of the Yucatán, to being a proud partner in developing and growing tourism as well as bringing a PGA TOUR event to Riviera Maya region and building golf courses for some of the finest resorts and time share operations in the world.

No matter where and the reason why, I have been embraced by a beautiful culture and burghers that have a warm heart and open arms.”

“We have been fortunate to design some wonderful golf courses in México, and one of the chief reasons for that is that It’s such a beautiful country! …with lots of ruggedness but also lots of softness.

And just as important, we’ve formed a lot of close relationships down there that have grown over the years and will only continue to strengthen in the coming years. I really couldn’t be happier with the way things have panned out in México.”

“Baja – it’s so nice to go down there, especially to those parts that aren’t fully developed yet. The Food, the Scenery and the People… The Beauty of the environment. just being able to see the Countryside as you go down, is Magnificent. The small villages, the kind people that we encounter along the way while racing the Baja 1000, there is something very timeless about the race that makes it so special. It’s like the Wild Wild West! That’s the thing with the Baja 1000, anything CAN happen, and it is precisely why racers get hooked.

I immediately fell in love with off-road racing.”

“I remember a trip with my dad.. We started in Cabo San Lucas and then went up north to Loreto. It was beautiful! We went camping. We were between the desert and the Ocean. At night we went motorcycle riding under a full moon…

I can’t wait to go back! Mainland, I love the Pacific Coast, from Los Angeles on down, and in Mexico – Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, and Mazatlán. I particularly like the area from the state of Guerrero to Oaxaca.”

“I started the LIFE tour in México because I lived there for a while and it was where I started my solo career. It was great returning to a place so special to me. Not only because it was this country that first gave me International fame in years past, but due to the fact that one of my passions is to travel to indigenous places within México and the entire world. Where else could I start the tour but at home?

Latin America is in my blood, soy boricua. Puerto Rico is my home and Latin America is very special to me for many reasons.”

“I think it’s important that people get to understand that México is a much bigger place than just the bad news that’s coming to America. Journalism has become so sensational. It seems the only news coming out of México is news having to do with the cartels – and danger and things like that – and I know there is another part of México and you want people to see that…

You want to help them understand that there is another part of México that is amazing – Simply Amazing!

The History, the Culture, the People and the Art.”

“There’s a special ambience in México no matter where you are. Its the food, the music, and a lifestyle that just feels laid-back and comfortable to me. As the sun starts to go down and I’m sitting at a taco stand on a street in Cabo, drinking margaritas, smelling the grill… all loaded up with local specialties, and listening to the Mariachi band in the distance.

I’m just starting to get a little buzz on and whew! I don’t know about YOU, but that’s one of my favorite feelings and you can’t get that experience anywhere else – but in México!”

Shakira

“México was not the first place I visited after leaving Colombia, but it was the first place where I had success, aside from my country – and having triumphed there permitted me to continue with my career…

I go there very often… I LOVE México City and the entire Mayan Riviera – which I think is incredible.”

“From the first moment I came to Fairmont Mayakoba for my MexicoTraveler® photoshoot, I was completely overwhelmed by the beauty and peacefulness of the moment. It was so beautiful that I didn’t even check into my room but asked if I could walk on the beach and watch the sunset.

I then took off my shoes and felt the water and sand on my feet. It was so MAGICAL!

The people of México are so upbeat and passionate, yet nice and courteous. I recognize these traits and love them since my Greek and Italian heritage have endowed me with a similar passion.

It makes life very colorful and worthwhile.”

“I absolutely love la Riviera Maya; Xcaret and Playa del Carmen are especially amazing. I even made one of my calendars there and had an unforgettable time. La Riviera Maya is not only ecologically beautiful and adventurous with the jungles, beaches, temples, caves. For me La Riviera Maya is a uniquely magical, romantic paradise.

I adore Acapulco too, great hotels and partying! Keep on traveling and enjoying life… y muchos besos.”
