The evening begins the way all good things at Flora Farms begin: slowly. Guests arrive before the light disappears, drawn first by the smell of something roasting in Flora’s Field Kitchen, then by the sound of conversation drifting across 25 acres of working organic farm. By the time the sun drops behind the Sierra de la Laguna, the Mango Grove has become something else entirely—a candlelit amphitheater draped in string lights, where the stage waits inside a stone arch threaded with climbing vines.
This is Songwriter Night at Flora Farms. And on June 17, it features one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Mexican music.

The Art of the Original Song
Ruzzi—born Marian Ruiz Martínez in Chihuahua—arrived at music through an unusually rigorous path. She spent nearly five years touring as a member of Julieta Venegas’s band, absorbing the craft of songwriting from one of México’s most respected figures, while simultaneously earning a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. The result is an artist who defies easy categorization: she moves between genres—son cubano, cha-cha-chá, trova, corrido, indie—with the fluency of a producer and the instincts of a poet.

Her album Dame flores earned her a nomination for Best New Artist at the 2025 Latin Grammys, placing her alongside a short list of emerging talents the industry watches carefully. The nomination didn’t change her direction—it confirmed it. Ruzzi has always been interested in the song itself: where it comes from, what it carries, and what happens when you perform it in a place that actually listens.
The Mango Grove is such a place.

Flora Farms as a Stage
Flora Farms has been many things in its nearly 30-year history in the foothills above San José del Cabo: an organic farm that supplies some of the region’s finest restaurants, the home of Flora’s Field Kitchen (holder of a Michelin Green Star), a destination for cooking classes, spa treatments, and artisan market days. What it has become more recently is a cultural venue—a rare place in Los Cabos where the program isn’t about spectacle but about connection.

The Songwriter Sessions, which run from May through August each year, were built around a specific intention: to give original music the kind of attentive audience it deserves. Dedicated seating, open skies, and a crowd that arrived early enough to have dinner together—these are not incidental details. They are the conditions under which songs land differently.

For the June 17 edition, Ruzzi is joined by Marina Diego, Sebastián Maschat, Maximiliano Bus Dúo, and Los Días de Atar—five artists, five stories, one evening that begins at the bar and ends somewhere harder to describe.

Before the Music
The farm recommends arriving early. Flora’s Field Kitchen, the Michelin Green Star restaurant at the heart of the property, serves dinner from the fields outward: vegetables harvested that day, proteins sourced with the same rigor the kitchen brings to its wine list, and tortillas that taste like someone cared about the corn. The restaurant’s farm-to-table ethos isn’t a marketing position—it’s the default setting of a place that has been doing this since before it was fashionable.

VIP ticket holders enter the Mango Grove at 6:40 PM for early access, welcome drinks, and reserved seating. General admission follows at 7:00 PM. Tickets are priced at $25 USD in advance, $30 at the door, or $75 for VIP—which includes a welcome drink and table service.
