MÉXICO’S NAVY SCHOOL SPREADS THE MESSAGE OF PEACE & GOODWILL from México - THROWBACK
Cuauhtémoc: México’s Message of Peace, Docked in San Diego
An Arrival That Felt Like a Blessing
The ARM School Tall Ship Cuauhtémoc didn’t just pull into San Diego—it saluted it. At 10:00 a.m. on B Street Pier, 261 crew members took positions along the rigging while mariachi music played and local students waved Mexican flags. BajaTraveler® was there to witness a moment that felt bigger than ceremony: Mexico showing up with dignity.
Training With a Mission
Sailing from Acapulco on May 6, the ship carries cadets of the Heroic Naval School to deepen their nautical science—part of a 222-day tricontinental training cruise that continues May 21 toward Honolulu and onward across the Pacific.
“Calm Seas”
Consul General Ambassador Alicia Kerber Palma welcomed the crew and reminded everyone why Cuauhtémoc is called an “Ambassador and Knight of the Seas,” carrying “peace and goodwill.”
